Yes, it was a game show on ABC during the Summer of 1990. Paired with “Super Jeopardy”, created and executive produced by game show master Merv Griffin, the show took 3 players around the Monopoly board answering crossword style clues. After all the properties were sold, players bought houses and advanced around the board earning money.
The show was initially for syndication, but when not enough stations purchased it was taken by ABC to fill the Summer 1990 schedule. 12 episodes aired with 13 episodes taped. The theme song is pretty catchy!

This show should be rebooted. If I were to do it. I'd make it maybe an hour long. The first round would be called, "Properties" where they acquire properties, still by answering crossword puzzle clues. If they're right, the money value is added to their score but if they're wrong or run out of time, it's subtracted from their score. The second round would be called, "Monopoly," where the players go around the board. They each choose which game piece they want to be and its silhouette would appear on the game board. If they land on their own property, they can collect the rent by answering a clue correctly but if they are wrong or run out of time, the other players can buzz in and steal the rent money. If they land on another player's property, they can stay safe and collect rent by answering the clue by if they are wrong or run out of time, the rent money is subtracted from their score and is automatically added to the score of the player who owns the property. The players would roll by using a remote control that makes the dice roller roll, just like on Monopoly Millionaire's Club. If they roll doubles they'd get another turn but if they roll 3 doubles in a row, they go to jail for at least one turn. And they can not collect rent from another player while in jail. They can get out by either paying their bail which is $500 or rolling doubles for it. And just like in this version, if a player lands on a railroad, they can go to another player's property and try to take it over. The third round would be "Double Monopoly," where all the money values on the board are doubled. The rules are all the same as the "Monopoly" round. At the end of the game the player with the most money wins and gets to keep it. The other players will leave with $1,000 for 3rd place and $2,000 for 2nd place. The final round will be "Bonus Monopoly," where the player will walk around the board to try to land on GO. They will get 5 rolls, doubles will still give them an extra roll. If they go to Jail, round automatically ends and they get nothing from the bonus round. They can quit anytime. If they land on certain properties, they will get prizes, including a brand new car if they land exactly on FREE PARKING. If they pass GO, they will receive $50,000 but if they land exactly on GO, they will receive $100,000. However, if the winner is in control of all 8 properties at the end of the game, in the bonus round, should they land exactly on GO, they will receive $1M instead of $100K, should they pass GO, they will still receive $50,000.
@AngeLBarraganJR Actually I see it as a companion to Family Game Night.
I don't remember Charlie O'Donnell being the announcer for this.
I think this game show lasted either one or two season. This is one show that I think Game Show network should air.
They had just 13 episodes and only aired 12 of them during the summer of 1990.
Monopoly aired in conjunction with Super Jeopardy on ABC in 1990; and for sure GSN has aired Super Jeopardy.
It actually was a very good game show. Just suffered from being in a bad timeslot. Do you have the complete episode?
GSN did, they just rightfully chose not to air it.
that's your opinion, i'm not going to deny that it doesn't sound interesting.
WOW! This takes me WAY back! Thanks for sharing!
Nope. Not enough shows and the interest just wasn't there. It is also possible the Mike may not have cleared his appearances, like Chuck Henry did for NYSI '89. GSN has only aired one ep. of Super Jeopardy! to date as well.
